Aware Parenting Support Circle idea - would this work for you?

Kia ora lovely humans!

I recently learned that I’m one of only 2 Aware Parenting coaches in Aotearoa, NZ. So why am I so quiet?!

A beautiful friend of mine approached me recently seeking support and community in her Aware Parenting journey and together we formed the idea of an Aware Parenting Support Circle.

I’ve had a few weeks now to really sit with how I want this to look and feel.

Here’s what I’m thinking AND I’d LOVE your feedback:

The Aware Parenting Support Circle is there to:

  • Create a community of support both on and offline for parents practising Aware Parenting in Aotearoa.

  • Provide a deep, safe and connected space for sharing and listening to each other and being able to express how parenting really is for you.

  • Provide Aware Parenting guidance, support and suggestions.

The format:

  • The program will run for 8 months - February to September 2025.

  • Live monthly zoom calls (1.5 hours) – connect with parents all over Aotearoa who are also practising Aware Parenting. The calls will be recorded for you to watch later if you can’t make it live. I’ll cover an Aware Parenting topic each month and then there will be time for sharing and questions.

  • A private, curated FB group - this is a safe space for you to be able to connect with those currently going through the support circle and practising Aware Parenting too. A space for you to share, ask questions, feel held and connected in your journey.

  • Monthly Q&A – I’ll jump onto the FB page once a month to answer questions or provide further insight or tools on the monthly theme.

  • Monthly in-person cuppas – connecting online will put you in touch with other parents practising Aware Parenting in your region, giving you the chance to meet up (self-organised) for a cuppa in your town to share about your experience and feel a sense of community offline as well.

  • 8 months of community building, connection, deep listening and Aware Parenting practical tools and support

Here are the topics that we’ll cover:

  • Why we might choose to parent in this way and why it’s hard: getting clear on our “why”

  • The foundations of Aware Parenting: creating secure attachment

  • Our journey as parents - reparenting ourselves, listening partnerships and support

  • Healing from stress and trauma: inbuilt healing mechanisms, listening to feelings and control patterns

  • Democratic discipline: boundaries, loving limits and natural consequences

  • Attachment play

  • Rupture, repair, trust and healing

  • Practical tools, stories and scenarios so you can implement Aware Parenting in your family

Who is it for?

  • You are caring for a child/ren mostly aged between 0-7 years old.

  • You have a basic understanding of Aware Parenting, but you don’t have to have read all the books or listened to 1000 podcasts. You could also be well practised in Aware Parenting (doing it for many years), or just curious/starting out.

  • You want a sense of community - a safe space to go to to be authentic and honest about how parenting is for you, challenges arising, things you’re unsure about and things you want to celebrate. ALL of you is welcome here. There is no right or wrong way to be or feel or parent.

  • You want to feel deeply heard, supported and held during your parenting journey.

  • You want some practical tools and strategies for those tricky parenting moments.

  • You want a village of support around you.

  • You might want to explore how your child/ren’s birth might be showing up in your parenting - for you and your little one (I offer one-on-one birth debriefing as well)

Investment:

  • TBC based on the finalised offering

My questions are:

  • Does this format work for you?

  • Are these the topics/themes you’d like to cover?

  • What other ideas do you have?

  • What value would you place on support like this?

I’d love to hear from you! Please email me your feedback.

Māmā melody for the month:

The Māmā melody for this month is One Day by Matisyahu which was sung at the Top of the South Choir Concert in Nelson’s Christ Church Cathedral over the weekend and was absolutely soul-movingly beautiful.

Thank you for being part of this community. I appreciate you!

Aroha nui,

Kirsty
