Holidays and the need for community

Kia ora lovely humans!

How are you doing out there Mama?

Summer holidays (or any extended holiday period) can be a trip can't they? Are you counting down the days or minutes until school is back? Or childcare? Or waiting for nap time or bedtime?

Two things can be wildly, deeply true at the same time in motherhood. You can love your child(ren) more than anything in the world. AND you can need a break or some time away. You can be head over heels doting on your baby, and also want to not be needed for just half an hour. You can be grateful and be 'touched out'.

This doesn't make you a bad Mum. It makes you a human.

It can feel scary to admit these things out loud sometimes. And the truth is, we are pack animals - designed to live in tribes, all doting on babies, all caring for children, all working together to get our needs met. It feels heavy because it isn't supposed to all rest on the shoulders of one or two people.

So let us take some of the load off - join my Aware Parenting Support Circle - where ALL of you is welcome, embraced and seen. Where your deepest thoughts will only be met with compassion and love.

And here’s your Māmā Melody!

My hubby and I had our first overnight away from the kids last weekend which was all sorts of amazing, and we saw Fat Freddy’s Drop and I’ve had their song Blackbird on repeat ever since - enjoy.

Thank you so much for being part of my community. I appreciate you!

Sending you so much love and compassion, you’re doing amazing,

Aroha nui
